Arrowhead

Sky Forest Ranger Station: 909-337-2444

  • Crab Flats: $12. Near Arrowbear. A very popular camping site and OHV staging area. Off-road and hiking trails nearby including the Crab Flats Trail and the Crab Creek Trail. Access is on a very rough dirt road. Restrooms. Firewood for sale on site. No room for large RVs. No overflow parking. Some first-come, first-serve.
    6,200'; 29 sites; 15' space length; 5/18-9/10. NRRS

  • Dogwood: $15. Easily accessible and well forested. Near Rimforest. Close to hiking and interpretative trails. Flush toilets. Firewood for sale on site. Fee for second vehicle. Minimum 2 days on weekends, 3 days on holiday weekends. Reservations can be made up to 5 days in advance.

  • Green Valley: $12. Campground is hidden in the Forest but is close to commercial areas. Near Arrowbear (Green Valley Lake Road). Hiking trails. Nearby boat rentals; bike rentals (July 4 and Labor Day weekends). Restrooms. Fee for second vehicle.

  • North Shore: $12. Easy access and adjacent to emergency services. Near Lake Arrowhead (NE side: Hospital Road). Hiking trails. Firewood for sale on site. Fee for second vehicle. Some first-come, first-serve.

    Big Bear

Big Bear Discovery Center: 909-866-3437

  • Big Pine Flats: $15.
    6,800'; 19 sites; 30' space length.

  • Hanna Flat: $17. Near Fawnskin (3 miles, Rim of the World). Great Forest scenery with many hardwood tress such as Oak and Mountain Mahogany. Bike and hiking trails, including the Hanna Flat Trail. All sites include a table, stove/fire ring, and paved parking. Firewood for sale on site. Flush toilets. Trash dumpster. Fee for second vehicle. No refunds for bad weather. 2 1/2 miles from Big Bear Lake on dirt road.

  • Horse Spring: Closed (burn area).

  • Pineknot: $15. On the south shore, close to Village shopping and very popular with mountain bikers because it's near the Snow Summit chairlifts. All sites include a table, fire ring and BBQ grill. Firewood for sale on site. Flush toilets. Fee for second vehicle. 1 mile from Big Bear Lake on paved roads.

  • Serrano: $17-$34; $27 with RV hookup. One of the most popular campsites in California. Near marinas, stores, and the Discovery Center. Hiking trails including the popular Alpine Pedal Path. Interpretive programs (Fri and Sat). Flush toilets. Fee for second vehicle. Just off Highway 38 on the north shore and only 500 yards from Big Bear Lake.

Cajon

  • Applewhite: $8 per 8 people, $10 per 16 people. Extra car: $3.

San Gorgonio

  • Barton Flats: $20-$30. Great scenery in a mixed conifer and hardwood forest. Highway 38. Hiking trails. Interpretive programs (Fri and Sat). Flush toilets. Firewood sold on site. Fee for second vehicle.

  • Heart Bar: $10-20. A small intimate campground well away from Highway 38.

  • South Fork: Adjacent to the Santa Ana River.

  • Wildhorse Equestrian: $20. Corrals for horses and showers for riders.
    7,000'; 11 sites; 50' space length. Call NRRS.

San Jacinto

Idyllwild Ranger Station: 909-659-2117

  • Boulder Basin: $10 per 8 people. Black Mountain Road (4S01). Hiking trails. Restrooms. Unpaved: not recommended for trailers. Fee for second vehicle. Some first-come, first-serve.

  • Dark Canyon: $12 per 8 people. Near Alendale. (Stone Creek Campground Road). Hiking trails. Fee for second vehicle. Some first-come, first-serve.

  • Fern Basin: $10. Near Alandale. (Stone Creek Campground Road). Hiking trails. Firewood for sale on site. Fee for second vehicle. Minimum three-day stay on holiday weekends.

  • Marrion Mountain: $10. Near Idyllwild (8 miles, Stone Creek Campground Road). Hiking trails. Paved roads and spurs; some spurs may not be level. Fee for second vehicle. Some first-come, first-serve. Season dates may change depending on weather and road conditions.
